Netflix Nostalgia: Saturday Morning Cartoons #StreamTeam

Very few things make me as nostalgic as certain TV shows. Anytime I hear the word ‘palaeontologist’ in any setting I automatically think of Ross and wonder “Did she get off the plane??”. As well as music and books, different stages in my life are clearly categorized by the shows I watched. Living with my big brother in my late teens was a period of The Sopranos and the original Law & Order. A bit earlier was Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Saved by the Bell and Happy Days. Oddly enough we didn’t have a TV for most of my early childhood, but my hubby has those classic fond memories of early Saturday mornings eating breakfast and watching Saturday morning cartoons.

He’s been loving sharing this tradition with our girls now that Netflix is streaming some of our favourite old-time cartoons including Scooby Doo and Bugs Bunny & Road Runner. It’s funny how you watch these shows for the first time in so many years and realize just how violent and politically incorrect they really were. You pick up on so many things that you never did when you were younger!

Other throwback favourites that Netflix has brought back are all the superhero cartoons including Spiderman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Is it weird that TMNT makes me crave and big bowl of Shreddies and cheap rubber jewelry?

You weren’t a true child of the 80’s unless you had these growing up.

With so many great throwback titles, it may take us a while to get through them all, but luckily we’ve got a lot of Saturday mornings this summer to see us through!

Tell me what your favourite retro Saturday morning cartoons are?

All on the Table Disclosure: I am a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam program, and receive special perks for sharing all my family’s favourites with you. I was not financially compensated for this post, and I would never share anything less than superbly stellar with my fave readers!
