Holiday shopping tips make you happy

The holidays are meant to be a time of joy, and nothing brings me more pleasure than browsing through aisle after aisle, store after store until I find the perfect present for all the special people in my life. But when you factor in the hectic crowds, lugging bags and winter coats, trying to furtively wrap presents without your kids finding out and all the other craziness that piles up this time of year, it starts to suck out all the fun out of the season.

Holiday shopping tips make you happy
This is how happy everyone should be about holiday shopping!

This year will be different though. This year I am taking back the holidays with the help of the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique – a unique and exclusive program designed to enhance the holiday shopping experience for RBC Avion cardholders. I’ve compiled my top 3 holiday shopping tips to help you do the same. Let’s

Holiday Shopping Tips

  1. Park the car! Navigating parking lot battles can be one of the most stressful parts of the holiday shopping experience so a tag-team plan can really help to alleviate this. When we’re doing out holiday shopping, my hubby will drop me off at the door before going to hunt for a spot. Taking transit, then having a friend or family pick you and your packages up can also banish parking wars from your shopping experience. Pro holiday shopping tip: If you’re lucky enough to be at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, take advantage of the valet parking for Avioners as part of the Holiday Boutique Experience. You’re welcome!
  2. Pass the kids! It really is impossible to shop for presents with kids in tow, so I like to use a tag-team approach with my hubby or friends. They’ll take the kids to enjoy something fun (we love the train at Metrotown) while I do my shopping, then I take the kids to see Santa while they do theirs. Pro holiday shopping tip: When taking advantage of present wrapping services like they have at the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique, keep in mind that there could be a longer wait time during peak shopping hours, so be sure to get your big items in for wrapping before continuing to shop for items your won’t wrap, or going to visit Santa.
  3. Put up your feet! Shopping can sometimes feel like a marathon when it should be a joy, so be sure to plan little breaks into your trip when you can sit down and have a light snack before continuing on the gift finding mission. Pro holiday shopping tip: Finding a quiet spot to take a break is the Holy Grail of holiday shopping. Often there will be benches or other seating down those long and winding back halls that lead to the washrooms, so check there if you need to get away from the crowds. Avioners can enjoy the comfortable relaxation provided in the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique VIP lounge, while they nibble on complementary snacks and beverages provided by the café.
