Family movie nights are a well established tradition in our house. Luckily, our children typically…
5 Minutes for Mom
Who else LOVES this time of year? I love how beautiful it gets outside as the leaves change and how cozy it gets inside. It’s that time of year when it’s nice to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea. Plus the anticipation of Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas slowly starts to build.
I don’t know about you, but I enjoy simple pleasures. Life can get busy and hectic really quick, especially once school is back and activities get added into the routine. Throw in work, a house, and a husband and you’ve got a full schedule! But wait a sec, what about Mom?
When was the last time you put a few minutes aside for yourself? It can be tough, I know, but as we ramp up to the festive season and try to balance all that we have to do, it can get overwhelming and we can easily forget about ourselves. So this season I’m asking you: what are you going to do for YOU? Even if you can only put aside a few minutes a day. This is probably one of the things I struggle with the most working from home and it can be hard to ‘turn off’ work when I can basically work anywhere/ anytime. But I know it’s important and I’m a better mom and wife when I do.
So my challenge to you this season is this: everyday put aside 5 minutes (or more if you can!) just for you. Make yourself a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine, enjoy some music, pick up a book or run a bath. Something that helps you relax and slow down. Walk away from your phone and electronics and reconnect with yourself. It’s amazing what a few minutes each day can do for the soul and I hope it’s a reminder that it’s just as important to take care of yourself as it is everyone else!
So- what will you do for YOU this Fall?
